1. Who can benefit from mediation training? Mediation training is beneficial for attorneys, HR professionals, managers, educators, therapists, and anyone interested in conflict resolution.
2. What does your mediation training program cover? Our program aligns with the learning objectives required by the Florida Supreme Court for Certified Mediators. It covers conflict resolution techniques, active listening skills, negotiation strategies, ethical considerations, and hands-on role-playing exercises that simulate real-world mediation scenarios. We will go step-by-step through the mediation process from initial contact to writing the mediation agreement. We leverage cutting-edge technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, to elevate and enhance your mediation practice.
3. Do I need any prior experience to enroll in the training? No prior experience is necessary to take the course. Our training is suitable for both beginners and experienced professionals looking to refine their mediation skills. However, to become a certified mediator, you must meet specific educational requirements based on the certification type, be of good moral character, and be at least 21 years old.
4. How do I become a Certified Mediator? To become a Certified Mediator, you must first complete an approved training program, satisfy the educational and ethical requirements, and pass the certification process outlined by the Florida Supreme Court. 5. Can I be certified as a family or circuit mediator if my highest level of education is a Bachelor’s Degree? No. A Bachelor’s Degree will not meet the minimum educational requirements by itself. In order to accumulate the 25 point minimum in the category of education/mediation experience, you must have (A) a Master's Degree (25 points) or higher or (B) a Bachelor's Degree (20 points) and have either substantial mediation experience as the mediator (5 points) or have earned a graduate certification in Conflict Resolution (5 points) prior to submitting your application for certification. Points earned for mentorship or under the miscellaneous points category may not be applied to the education/mediation experience category in order to achieve the 25 point minimum.
6. Do you offer online mediation training? Yes. Our courses are delivered online via Zoom, unless special arrangements are made for private groups.
7. How long does the training take? The Family and Circuit Mediation Training course consists of 40 hours, conducted over five days (Wednesday through Sunday) from 9:00 a.m. to 6:15 p.m. Our Arbitration Training course lasts 4 hours.
8. What is the cost of your training and what if I need to cancel? The Family and Circuit Mediation Training course costs $895. The Arbitration Training is $295. If you cancel at least two weeks prior to the program start date, you may transfer to another class or receive a full refund less a $75 administrative fee. There are no refunds or transfers if you cancel within two weeks of the program start date.
9. Is your mediation training approved by the Florida Supreme Court? Yes. Our mediation training programs meet the requirements of the Florida Supreme Court for mediator certification. Additionally, our Arbitration Training is approved by the Florida Supreme Court.
10. What will I receive upon completion? Participants who successfully complete our training program receive a Certificate of Completion. This certificate is required for certification applications and may also be used to satisfy continuing education or professional development requirements.
11. Do you assist with obtaining the required observations? Yes. Most of our trainers provide our students with opportunities to obtain observation points. In addition, we can refer you to Certified Mediators and Court programs that have agreed to provide mentorship opportunities.
12. Do I earn continuing education credits for taking your course? Yes. Florida attorneys can fulfill their three-year reporting cycle requirements, except for the mandatory Professionalism course provided by the Bar. Additionally, our Family Mediation Training is approved for 40 hours of CEU credit by relevant accrediting bodies. Florida certified mediators also obtain CME credits.
13. Can I practice as a mediator after completing your training? Yes. However, additional requirements apply if you wish to become a certified mediator. Please consult the Florida Supreme Court’s guidelines to fully understand the certification process.
14. How do I enroll in your mediation training course? You can enroll by visiting the Registration Page on our website, selecting your desired course, and completing the online registration process. Your registration is confirmed once you receive a receipt via email. Please note, we ship a hard copy of the training materials. If you register within ten days of the class start date, you will incur an additional charge for expedited shipping and handling.
